The STAR certification programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India via NSDC (National Skills Development Corporation) to skill the youth of our country by motivating them to join standardized training programmes set by the government. At the end of these trainings, the youth are assessed by authorized certification bodies. Upon passing the assessment, they are given a certificate from the Government of India as well as a monetary reward to cover the cost of the training. They also enter the National Skills Registry.
These certifications will be made mandatory in due course of time to seek employment. The 'STAR' certification programmes are about being "future ready" for employment opportunities. The National Skills Registry is the database from where organisations will seek certified candidates for job opportunities.
